Campaign Tracking
What is geotargeting?
Geotargeting sends the same public slug to different destinations by the visitor’s country or region — useful for stock, language, and legal pages.

Key takeaways
- One slug, several destinations, chosen by location at click time.
- IP-based location is an estimate. VPNs and mobile carriers will misfile some hits.
- Always set a fallback destination for countries you did not list.
The job geotargeting is for
You printed one path or bought one ad URL. The offer is not the same everywhere. US visitors should see the US store. EU visitors should see the store that can actually ship. A country with a legal restriction should see an explanation, not a checkout that will fail.
Geotargeting attaches those rules to the slug. The public path stays stable. The destination changes at redirect time. That is different from stuffing every language on one page and hoping people find the right button.
What the lookup can and cannot know
Most products use IP geolocation. It is good enough for country-level storefronts. It is a poor fit for a street-level promise. VPNs, corporate egress, and mobile gateways will send some people to the wrong shop. Keep a clear fallback. Do not hide a worse price behind a “detected region” you cannot defend.
How to set it without surprising people
List the countries that matter. Point each at a destination you would put on a billboard in that market. Set the default for everyone else. Pair geo rules with UTMs so the campaign name still rolls up. In Zipy, geotargeting sits on paid plans with device rules, custom domains, and teams.
